A co-op is a place where children and parents alike share in the learning experience. Parents are regular participants in the classroom, sharing in many aspects of classroom preparation, daily fine-motor skill projects, snacks, playtime and clean-up.

Working hand-in-hand with our teacher of thirteen years, parents have an opportunity to learn about their children, as well as others, and to experience different methods of working with preschoolers--everything from watching emerging socialization to hands-on creative projects, adapting to different temperaments and of course, conflict resolution!

Every parent plays a key role in our community. Each family in the preschool has either a "job" (see job descriptions) or a position on the Board. In addition, parents are expected to parent-help once per month and to participate in one monthly clean-up during the school year. Generally, the Rainbow class (four-year-old class) families are responsible for setting up the classroom at the beginning of the school year, while the Star class (three-year-old class) families pack up the classroom at the end of the year. These duties are in addition to the board positions and jobs all our families hold.
